We have so much drama in our home. When we found out in July 2010 that we were going to be parents to a daughter, it started. Josh began his saga of she has to be "well-rounded" and still be his "buddy". What he really meant was, I don't want a girly girl. So he bought her camo outfits and talks about taking her fishing. However, Caroline's mommy was buying dresses and pink bows. Since I'm home with her and get her dressed most days its not often that she's in camo. Even then she has a brown bow that she'll wear. A bow on that girl's head is a daily thing! Well her daddy thinks he's funny because he always takes it off the very minute he gets his hands on her. Apparently she is going to be more of a daddy's girl than we all thought....

stare down
Caroline was so happy when we woke up this morning. She was rolling around in her crib when I went in to get her up. Since she was so happy I let her have some playtime on her little activity mat. She was staring down her bug that hangs from it. She looked straight at it for the longest time. She is so adorable!!

7 weeks PREGNANT
I'm seven weeks pregnant with our first little sweetie. Our tadpole is due on December 20, 2010. babycenter.com tells me that our baby is the size of a blueberry this week but is already starting to grow tiny arms & legs. The eyelid folds are already covering tiny eyes which are starting to have some color. How precious! The baby makes me hungry all day long and I've been needing extra sleep at night already. We are SO excited about our sweet little one. We're going to be meeting our OBGYN on May 18th. Can't wait!

Where are ya, Santa?
Our change of address form got lost on its way to the North Pole so Santa skipped our house. Its either that or the only 'child' in our house *coughtuckercough* wasn't on the nice boys list this year. Either way Santa didn't make it and Josh had duty, boo! We did Christmas with the big family last weekend. We were only there for three days and that wasn't long enough. I have to go back to work on Monday but my 'rents are coming for New Years. Yay!
Merry Christmas from the Maynards!

Happy Veteran's Day
I am so thankful to be married to a man that is not only wonderful, but that is also part of our military. The Coast Guard is often overlooked, but not at our house. Not only does the Coast Guard provide for our family but it has also given us so many wonderful opportunities. We lived in ALASKA for a year! So great. I have made some of the best friends because of the Coast Guard. And now we live in a different kind of paradise. I'm such a Georgia girl, but I love a little sand in my toes. Tybee Island has been a dream of ours for so long. Now we're here! We love it. Not only are we only three hours from our family, but we're also living at the beach! We seem to work more now than when we did in Alaska, but its still worth it. Josh loves his job. He loves being in the Coast Guard and he is really good at what he does. He enjoys being on the water and doing all the navigation. He is good at law enforcement and is so brave. I am so proud of him. The Coast Guard guards us at HOME. And that is so important. Thank you to all of our Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors.
Kenny Chesney's Soul of a Sailor
He walked in with a salty sway
Lookin' like Blackbeard in his day
A brother in arms just like me
I was born a son of the sea
I can't be still, I can't be tied
The only time I feel alive is
When the wind fills my sail
Riding on a lifelong swell
Let my heart take me where it wants to go
That's the soul of a sailor, the soul of a sailor
He slid a stool and a beer to me
Said, you know, we're both a dying breed
Here's to love lost and newfound friends
And living out life in the boat we're in
I can't be still, I can't be tied
The only time I feel alive is
When the wind fills my sail
Riding on a lifelong swell
Let my heart take me where it wants to go
That's the soul of a sailor, the soul of a sailor
Let my heart take me where it wants to go
That's the soul of a sailor, the soul of a sailor

Sorry for being a slacker!
I promise to try to keep up my blog better from here on out! Josh and I (& our Tucker) now live on Tybee Island! We have a quaint little three bedroom beach house, we love it. Josh is at Station Tybee and on top of all of his duties there, he is also getting his captain's license. He will be able to do fishing charters (and other things like that) for up to six people. I'm so excited for him. I'm still working as a Dental Assistant. I'm with Dr Humphreys on Wilmington now and so far so good. Next month I'll be getting my X-Ray certification. Tucker loves having a big fenced yard with a park near by. He's currently counting sheep in his doggie bed.

a year goes by in the blink of an eye
It's strange to think that we have been married for over a year now and have lived in Alaska for that long. In three short weeks we are transferring to Tybee Island, Georgia. We are thrilled! Even though we are so excited about this new adventure, I can't forget the memories we've made in this small town. Living so far from our families has been one of the best things for us, hard, yes, but still very good for us. We have learned how to lean on each other when there was nothing else to hold us up. We've fought, we've laughed, we've fished, we've made memories that I will never, ever forget. In honor of our first year of marriage and our year spent in southeast Alaska, I've put together a video of some of the photos from this past year. Enjoy!
